Every Christmas I love to make handmade ornaments for our holiday guests. What the ornament will be is a well kept secret not to be unveiled until the annual Bunco Christmas party that hubby and I host each year. I love planning and making the ornaments which have varied a lot over the years. I try to make enough that every visitor (or at least one per couple!) to our home during the holiday season can take one as a gift. This year when one of my friends called to cancel her dinner reservations, she told me that although she wasn't going to attend, she expected the gift! It is my expectation that one of these days soon I will open the door to find her on my step....hand outstretched! There is only one person that I am aware of that has all the ornaments I have made since I have lived in this neighborhood. It's not me. This year's ornament is my interpretation of the tutorial that can be found at http://www.suzyssitcom.com/2010/11/feature-friday-paintbrush-santa.html
I used Snowtex rather than paper for Santa's hair on the back of the paintbrush, and then sprayed some glitter on them to make them sparkle a little. Suzy's tutorial is great if you want to make one for yourself. Or just come on down for a visit. I still have a few left!
Here are a couple of the ornaments that I have done in the past:
There is already a plan for next year. Maybe I can manage to get them done earlier. Or not.
Gratitude for:
- Good Friends, Good Food, Good Fun!
- Hubby home for the holidays.
- Hubby's help for bleeding fingers - yep! Sewed my finger again today. OUCH!
