Quilt Show

What a dreary cold day it has been outside today!  Regardless of the weather, a friend and I drove to Dallas for a quilt show.  We did splurge on valet parking though - after all, who wants to tromp through cold rain puddles to fetch your car when there is some guy around to do it for you! (Besides, I wore my new shoes!)  In general, the show was disappointing.  Part of the disappointment was leaving behind the third chick in the nest.  It's just not the same without her perspective singing in the background.  The three of us, although a happy trio when we are together, just all see the world with much different eyes.  Our differences mostly lead to much laughter and often more interesting conversation.  Then lunch turned into Olive Garden for two rather than the planned soiree for more.  Seems the dreariness was catching.  Will the real fabriholics please step forward??  That would be my friend and I it seems.

I love this little guy!

Okay - here's to the farm girl in me again!
This critter was done on one piece of fabric with  all his features done in thread.

Cute cat - Need I say more?

This one was 3D
Although we had a good time, I did have to lament that going to a quilt show without Michael as my date was a totally different experience.  There weren't many "artsy" quilts on display today though.  Here are a couple I thought he might find interesting - Here's to you, Michael!
This is one that intrigued me.  It was constructed of handmade paper stitched between layers of organza.  While not my favorite subject matter, it was definitely an interesting art form.
Then there were the usual more traditional quilts - Beautiful!
This one was pieced with plain fabric.
The effects were are stitched.

Oh!  One more just for fun!
Jean, Don, Deby, and Michael - We missed ewe!
After the quilt show and a good lunch, we popped in on a friend who owns a small quilt shop.  It was fun to see her again...... and to pick out a few pieces of fabric of course!

Blessings of:
- A day well spent with a good friend!
- Valet parking
- a few pieces of new fabric.....a girl can never have too much!
