I'm finally coming out of my closet! In my continuing effort to decrease the amount of stuff we have, I've been cleaning.....and sorting....and trying to organize and GET RID OF. While I realize that I could probably do without so much more, I've made a start. Why do we get so emotionally attached to our clothes? Come on, you know you do it too. I know I'm not the only one who finds it hard to get rid of that dress that I'll never wear again but I wore to (fill in the blank). Or...the ever present reason that it may come back in style. Or..... I could wear it to work in the yard. I really need 20 "outfits" for working in the yard! NOT! While I was agonizing over my mountain of shoes, my wise daughter-in-law just looked at me and asked, "Do they even fit?" Well, lets see......Nope! OK....I'm now less at least one pair of shoes!
The problem now is that I so need to go buy Hubby some new shirts for work. He's is an admitted "Pigpen"....of the Shultz kind. He just attracts stains. (Rumor has it that it is an inherited trait. Just a rumor, mind you!) Anyway, that means
more stuff unless I can convince Hubby that he really can do without some of the stained stuff. **sigh** It's a vicious cycle. He's not so much emotionally attached to his clothes, it's more the aversion of maybe having to step foot in the men's department in an actual store. The good news is that I actually managed to take some bags to the Clothes Closet here in town. I have no doubt that they will be finding good homes. We can now actually walk around in our "walk-in" closet.
This is the project that is taking up most of my sewing time these days.
I'm going through my stash, and working on this hexie quilt. I'm making progress on decreasing my stash, and also
being coerced into helping my friends also decrease theirs. It's a great grab and go project. I'm a terrible car rider unless I have something to do. This is easy to take, and once the hexies are basted it goes together so fast. It's really satisfying to see it come together. For those of you eyeing that little basket, yes, it's one of those that they sell at the quilt show - only a mini version. Hubby bought it for me at our town festival this summer. It's perfect for my car sewing!
Gratitude for:
- A clean closet. One task on my to-do list marked off!
- Being able to sew - to help others, and for my own enjoyment.
- Saying "no" to buying an
old vintage sewing machine for just a small donation! I actually said "no"!
I am so pround of you!!!! Are you planning on buying new clothes now? LOL Or will it be new shoes?
