The quest for less clutter continues. "Organization" would be a four letter word at our house except for the simple fact that the word just has well beyond the 4 letters required to fit into that category. I have OCD tendencies which are not shared by Hubby. Right now, he's enjoying the clutter. There's a lot of it. When our house is cluttered, I'm not on his case to pick up after himself. He can enjoy his piles without having to think of some justification. Why does cleaning up clutter cause so much clutter? Since I cleaned the garage last week, it is now officially the cleanest room in the house! There is just so much wrong with that. Over the past 12 months I have received boxes of stuff from my In-laws (they moved into an apartment), my parent's house (since my mother's passing my father has been gradually going through his own clutter - only to pass it down to his children and grand-children), and the neighbor's house (the heirs of his estate have been trying to liquidate their assets into my house.) We're making progress though. The garage is still clean!! Blindfolds are a requirement for entering our actual living quarters though. Don't worry, I will guide you into the "room-we-never-use" and remove it during your visit. You will, however, have to put it back on to be guided out.
I had a plan when I started dealing with all this stuff. I had it all mapped out in my mind. A schedule of sorts. Hmmm...no one told me that the secretary in my brain was going to leave her position and post a sign that read, "Feel free to add whatever you would like to the calendar. I'll be back eventually." It's allllll good. I'm working on it. It's starting to get better. Kinda.
I took a break from my decluttering break, and had lunch with a sweet friend today. This was a previously scheduled lunch. We only live a couple of blocks from each other, and neither one of us has a "job", but for some unknown reason we seem to only get together for lunch when we are celebrating one of our birthdays. It includes cappuccino and cupcakes. What could be better? Today's birthday celebration was mine. She treated me to lunch and I gave her a gift! It was wonderful. The gift was part of the clutter I'm trying to extract. It was perfect. She loves me, so I even let her come in the house sans blindfold.
Okay, I'm really only writing this because it is another excuse not to do something productive. The house cleaning fairy has not made a scheduled calendar visit so I guess I should get back to that "not-a-4-letter word" that I spoke of previously. I'll feel better when it's done anyway.
Gratitude for:
- Lunch with friends - especially those who let me prattle on.
- Cupcakes and cappuccino
- Knowing the neighbor's house well enough to get them out of a serious jam!
