How many Doctors does it take to keep a middle-aged woman movin' and groovin'?
From the time I was a small child to the time I started having babies of my own, I only remember three doctors. 1- My Dentist (I admit to holding ill will for this man. He was mean, and hardly counts in the Doctor category.) 2- Kindly, Old Dr. Graham is the first doctor I remember. I was pretty small, but I still have some vague memory of gray Norman Rockwell(ish) eyebrows. I don't remember when he retired, but until he did he gave me my shots, took out my tonsils, and unwrapped my lollipops for me. 3 - Dr. Fleischer moved into the same office after Dr. Graham's retirement and became my doctor until I officially became an adult and moved away.
My quest for making a simple follow-up appointment with my Gastroenterologist last week has turned into, to quote Hubby, "a journey". There has been blood work, a CAT scan, medicine changes, an ultrasound, and now.....yep....the addition of yet another doctor. I will actually see the new doctor before I see the doctor for whom I was trying to make the original appointment. When I talked his nurse yesterday, I had to admit that I'm becoming somewhat confused with the medication changes and flurry of activity. It was only after I questioned at which point I will actually see the point of origin doctor that she made an appointment. It was a tactical error.....I had to cancel it because I had to schedule that time for the new doctor. Today I will have to remake the original appointment - after I see my Cardiologist this morning. See what I mean? After my last bloodwork with my Rheumatologist, I pronounced myself "healthy". It was great bloodwork. Last week's bloodwork was great too - Healthy!! They all seem to be in agreement that I am healthy ......on paper.
So.....how many doctors does it take to keep me "healthy"? Apparently many more than I could have possibly imagined!
Gratitude for:
- Retirement....How could I manage all this and work?
- My sister's divorce is officially final.
- My smartphone that keeps track of appointment, addresses, and can actually make a call too!
- Getting some of my projects completed!
