Cake for Breakfast

Our grand-daughter celebrated her 7th birthday this past weekend.  Although the weather was dreary all weekend, the dreariness did not extend into the house!  She was allowed the opportunity to determine all of our destinations for Saturday.....starting off with cake for breakfast.  Well, she actually didn't choose that option.  Her step-mother did.  Now before you think that is an extravigant precedant, it really wasn't any worse than donuts or some of the sugary cereals available these days.  In fact, we ALL had cake for breakfast! Yummy!  (Healthier options were required the remainder of the day.)

After choosing a rather girly girl outfit for the day, the birthday girl, Nana, and Step-mom headed out to the spa.  We all had our nails done, and we were even brave enough to let the birthday girl choose the colors. Even with all the artsy pedicures I've had,  I don't think my toenails have been sparkly blue before.  I tried to wear her crown once, and stuck some pink hair in among my own, but it was only met with some giggles and a request for their return.  Oh well.  The birthday girl opted for sparkly pink with tiger stipes on all 20 of her nails.  Does that really surprise you?

Grandpa was thrilled when it was announced that Buffalo Wild Wings was for lunch.  He wasn't quite so thrilled when he couldn't get the game app to work on his phone, but that's OK.  It would only have embarrassed him when I beat his as badly as I did the others.  SCORE!!  Naps were required to make it through the rest of the day.  (This was more for the adults than for the kids.)

We then headed off to the bowling alley.  The birthday girl did take off the feather boa and crown for bowling....still, she managed to bowl with the frou frou skirt and the sequins!  It was fun bowling in the dark, since it was Cosmic Bowling for the first part of the afternoon. Yep - that's my strike on the board.  I took a picture of it for posterity.  I'm a great bowler! Ok...I sometimes stretch the truth.  That was my only strike for the day.

The littlest needed a little help from Daddy, but he was so excited to just throw the ball.  I don't think he ever even looked back to see how he did.  Thank goodness for bumper bowling!

Big Brother is actually a pretty good bowler.  He scored higher than Nana did.  (Admittedly, that's not saying much.)

The birthday girl did better once she decided that it was better not to cradle the ball in her arms like a baby, and then try to throw it.  It didn't matter anyway.  I think the only real competition was between Grandpa and his older son.  They each won one, so everybody was happy!
During dinner at Chilis, the birthday girl pronounced that it was "the best birthday ever!"  Yes, it was sweetheart!  Yes, it was.

Gratitude for:
-Visiting with friends I don't get to see very often.
- Celebrating our grand-daughter's birthday with her.
- Playing games after the kids went to bed.  (Wits and Wagers - an interesting numbers game)
